Use this command to display and hide the Status Bar, which is displayed along the base of the window. A check mark appears next to the menu item when the Status Bar is displayed.
The left end of the status bar describes the actions performed by the various commands as you navigate through the menus and toolbars. If after viewing the description and depressing the left mouse button you do not wish to execute the command, release the mouse button after moving the pointer off the item.
The inset panels on the status bar indicate whether Snap Mode is on or off, what is currently selected, the 3D coordinates of the current selection and the radius, distance or angle to the origin or previous selection.
Indicator Description
The coordinates of a face, group selection, component or whole object are the median coordinates of all the included vertices (note, not the average). For example, if the whole house is selected its initial coordinates are X = 0.00, Y = 38.50, Z = 0.00. The Y coordinate is exactly half the distance between the floor and the roof ridge of the house.
If you click on the dark blue background then click on a vertex, an edge or a face, the rightmost indicator shows the radius --- that is, the straight-line distance to the origin. For faces this is the distance from the median center of the face. The Selection indicator shows the number of the vertex, edge (both adjacent vertex numbers), or face.
If you click on a vertex, and then another vertex, the rightmost indicator gives the straight-line distance between them. The Selection indicator shows both vertex numbers -- the first face selected is the one in brackets.
If you click on a face, and then another face, the rightmost indicator shows the solid angle between the two faces. The face numbers of both faces are shown ---. the first one selected is in brackets. The faces need not be adjacent
In Rotation Mode, the rightmost indicator gives the angle through which the current selection has been rotated. If the axis of rotation changes the angle starts from zero again.
