This command determines whether the rear faces of L3DD objects are drawn or omitted. By default the rear faces are drawn, and the menu item is ticked accordingly.
The front faces of closed solids normally hide the rear faces. For objects like the house, though, if rear faces are turned off you can look through the windows and see the wild blue yonder rather than the insides of the walls. 3D rendering is faster if rear faces are deselected.
The most important consequence of this command is its effect on Select Mode --- for making selections by dragging a rectangle. If rear faces are turned off only the visible faces will be selected. If rear faces are turned on all faces within the rectangle will be selected, regardless of whether they can be seen or not.
In Wireframe Mode, turning off rear faces can sometimes help by reducing a confusing abundance of linework.
