This command divides selected faces that are not flat into two or more flat faces. Individual faces, groups of faces, or the whole object may be selected for ‘flattening’.
When vertices are moved in 3D objects, faces with more than 3 sides commonly become warped or non- planar. This command works perfectly on warped faces with between four and 6 sides. In faces with more than 6 sides it may leave a hole in the middle that can be fixed by creating a new face to fill the hole. Triangular faces are, of course, always flat. For objects that are subjected to a lot of editorial pushing and pulling, triangular faces are the best bet.
