_bm3    Star Maker command (Tools Menu)

Top

The Star Maker command is used to subdivide selected faces into three or more triangular faces by placing new vertices in the center of the selected faces.  These vertices are then moved outwards to create ‘geodesic’ objects, or star-like objects at greater central vertex displacements.  This process is commonly referred to as ‘stellation’.

In the above illustration a pentagonal dodecahedron has been ‘stellated’, or changed into a star.

The Star Maker Command invokes the following dialog box:

Movement Type

Choose radial movement for most 3D stars, or movement normal to each face for most face subdivision.

Standard Displacements

Choose between larger standard star displacement and the smaller displacement usually applied to face subdivision.

Custom Displacement

Enter your own displacement for central vertices in 3D units.  This overrides any standard displacement

Absolute Radius

Enter an absolute radius for all central vertices in 3D units.  This overrides any other displacements entered above
