_bm3     Rotate to Front 2 command (Tools Menu)

This command rotates the whole object with respect to the XYZ axes, so that the selected vertex, edge or face is rotated to the front.

 

If a face is selected, the normal to the face will be rotated until it is parallel to the Z axis.  Vertices and edges become centered on the Z axis.  The object should normally be centered on the origin before rotating vertices or edges to the front, but this is not important for faces.
