The Cull Vertices command removes all spatially identical vertices (within the current tolerance setting). This process is known as ‘welding vertices’ in some CAD programs. The effect of this is to join previously unjoined adjacent faces, so that they now share common vertices. It is identical to the Join Faces command and the opposite of the Free Faces command.
The Cull Vertices command does not renumber vertices, but the vertices making up each face can change. The removed vertices are banned, not deleted. They can be deleted with the Renumber Vertices command.
See also the Weld Vertices command.

The command is identical to the Cull Vertices command, and is the opposite of the Free Faces command. It joins selected adjacent faces by eliminating vertices that coincide (within the current tolerance). In some other 3D programs this process is referred to as ‘welding vertices’. Adjacent faces thereby share common vertices, rather than owning their own set of unique vertices.
The Join Faces command can be quite slow with large projects, so be patient. For objects imported from STL or DXF files, all faces are initially unconnected and you will need to use this command to join them all up. Where large numbers of faces are involved the process can take several minutes.
