A context menu pops up in the 3D View with a single click of the right mouse button -- the mouse must not be moved while you do this. The particular menu shown depends on what you click. For example, if you right-click on a face, the face is selected (it turns yellow) and the face context menu is displayed. There are four context menus -- for faces, vertices, edges and the background. None of the commands are unique -- they also occur in menus that drop from the main menu bar. The context menus provide quicker access and convenient grouping for some of the more frequently used commands.
Note that the Shift key also works with the right mouse button when selecting a group of faces or vertices.
