_bm3      Weld Vertices command (Edit menu)

Top

The Weld Vertices command welds two or more selected vertices into the one unified vertex.  Any distance may initially separate the selected vertices.  The resulting welded vertex assumes the vertex number and coordinates of the vertex first selected and the other selected vertices are all deleted (but not removed).  The numbers of the remaining vertices are not changed.  To remove the deleted vertices completely use the the Renumber Vertices command.

This command can be used to reduce the number of sides in a face, or the number of faces in an object.  Be aware that this command often results in warped faces that need to be split into two or more planar faces with the Unwarp Face(s) command.

The adjacent message appears if you do not first select two or more vertices using Shift-Left Mouse Button.

To weld all vertices lying closer together than the current tolerance setting, you can also use the ‘ Cull Vertices’ command in the Tools Menu.
