_bm3    The Data View

Top  Previous  Next

The Data View is obtained by selecting the Data View Command in the View Menu, or by clicking on the Data View button in the Standard Toolbar.  This view comprises lists of all the components, faces and vertices that make up the current project.  Named components are listed in alphabetic order.

Faces are presented in numerical order, with all the vertex numbers defining each face, and the number of the named component to which the face belongs.  The compass bearing (azimuth) and inclination of each face normal (vector perpendicular to the face) are also given.  The bearing is measured in degrees clockwise from the Z axis (Arbitrary North).  The inclination of each face normal is measured from the vertical (Y), starting at zero for a horizontal-upwards face, through 90 degrees for a vertical face, to 180 degrees for a horizontal-downwards face.  Vertices are generally presented in anticlockwise order, viewed from outside the object.  Faces with more than five vertices take up more than one row in the face list.

The vertex list is in numerical order, with the X, Y and Z coordinates of each vertex.

All lists are limited to a maximum of 500 rows.  They are automatically truncated if they exceed this, with the words ‘List Truncated!’ displayed at the bottom of each list.

For printing L3DD’s data, both the Print Preview and Print Plan/Data commands work in ways that will be familiar to all users of Microsoft Windows programs.  You must be in the Data View in order to preview and print the data.
